University of Michigan Electric Boat is an engineering student project team at UofM. We build an electric racing boat that competes in PEP. I am the manufacturing director of the team. As a result, I do much of the machining for the team’s parts and I have designed a number of structural implements.

y-Bars

In order to connect our boats rear hydrofoils, we needed a strong structural member. As a result, I designed, simulated, and welded together these parts our team calls “y-bars”.

In celebration of our partnership with one of our sponsors, I designed and laser-cut this aluminum plaque.

Trailer Catapult

Because of the large foils on the rear of the boat, I had to design an extensive refit of our trailer that would allow us to launch the boat down a standard ramp. After many hours of CAD and design reviews, our team has settled on my design for what I call the “Catapult”

The catapult uses a parallel four-bar linkage to lift the boat out into deep water.
